So beautiful, right?? Well I decided to take a break from that endeavour to replace the entryway light. While it was not a cheap replacement like the ones above, it was definitely not my style. Especially with the seashell detail, as seen in the photo on the right. The previous owner must have loved the ocean, because the living room light also featured a metal like rope that reminded me of a boat shoes and pirates. I kind of wish I snapped a picture of that one before I sent that one off.
I wanted something more unique and eye catching as it is the first light you see as you enter the house. I searched far and wide on the internet for a funky replacement, many of which were either too cheap looking in person or too pricey for my pockets. I considered something modern like the Boja or Minut from IKEA, but once I made the trip to IKEA I found that neither of these choices excited me. I found some other contenders at Lamps Plus online, like this beautiful pendant, but the almost $400 price tag left me lampless! The following week, I was at Lowes (for who knows what I can't remember!) and I turned down the lighting aisle and discovered this amazing, shiny, beautiful, fishbowl of a light by Allen and Roth. With a $120 dollar price tag it was just at that price point that I couldn't justify buying it right away. Two weeks later during Winter break, back at Lowes, the very same light was on sale for $89! So I scooped it right up! I also used my Lowe's card and scored another 5% off! I had my electrician come over and install the new light pronto. I also finally got to hang up the ceiling medallion that I bought at the Habitat For Humanity ReStore months before for $4. Here's the final product.

Isn't she lovely?? I am still madly in love! I love the exposed glow of the Edison light bulb. It manages to be both modern and old world at the same time, which is a perfect fit for the house!
